The Christmas season is our favourite time of year here at Punk Me Up. It is also the busiest so we thought we’d let you in on our top tips for getting the most out of your visit
Whether it’s a 1st Christmas bauble, a teapot for Nana or an ornament for the tree, everyone loves to receive a hand-made gift, but remember…
Don’t be a last minute Annie!
Plan your visit, the sooner you come in the better, December gets so busy for everyone what with school plays and Christmas drinks (if you’re lucky).
You’ll find our ‘ready just in time for Christmas’ dates and Christmas Opening Times in the What’s On section of our website. Clay imprints take approximately 4 weeks for us to get ready for you and we can’t hurry them up so book in before it’s too late! Don’t forget we are closed on Wednesdays.
Are you planning on paint prints?
Your baby’s handprint on a bauble, mug or pasta bowl is the perfect hand-made gift.
We are taking bookings for paint prints, simply call the café on 0207 732 6688 and we’ll take your £25 deposit over the telephone (which of course goes towards your order or we’ll refund you the difference). We’ll always do our best to help you with prints but if you haven’t booked and it’s very busy we may not be able to assist.
Come along with your NCT friends or by yourself, we’ll be spinning the Christmas tunes. If you want to be prepared, then you can have a read how paint prints work here.
Hand-making your gifts
If you are not planning on paint prints or clay imprints and there are less than 6 of you, just drop in. We don’t take bookings for small groups of people who are painting their own ceramics.
We add to our displays every week and currently on our shelves you’ll find a range of Christmas themed ceramics to get you in the mood and plainer items that are perfect for gifts.
We know it’s nigh on impossible to juggle little people and show off your perfect writing so if you’d prefer us to do the tricky bit, then let our in-house artist Nikki Pontin do the hard work with our custom painting service.
It will take us a few weeks to process your ceramics after you’ve finished on the day, so if you’d like this service, allow some extra time and wait for a phone call from us.
When’s the best time to come?
If you are planning on coming at the weekend, it’s best to be early, we open at 10 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday and it’s last painter at 4pm. The earlier you come the more likely you are to get a table so don’t be a last minute Annie!
If you’d like to do paint prints then we recommend booking ahead on a weekday.
Picking up your ceramics
If you have used our Standard 7 day service then we won’t call you, simply pop back 7 days later. At this time of year, please come as close to the 7 days as possible. If it’s a Fast-track item, clay imprint or we’ve done some custom painting for you then wait for a call from us.
We have limited space here at the café so if you’ve previously painted ceramics and they are here waiting for you to collect them, remember that we can only hold onto them for 6 weeks so if you call in the last week of December expecting to pick up that butterfly that you painted in September, it will not be here.
Our Christmas postbox!
Draw a picture of Father Christmas and post it in our box, Father Christmas’ elves will choose their favourite and the lucky winner gets a £100 Punk Me Up Voucher!
We look forward to welcoming you here at Punk Me Up and hope you enjoy the Christmas cheer as much as we do!
