Hello from Chloe & Laura, two London Mums with a passion for Art and all things creative. Our love of the Art World is the inspiration behind us creating Picassos in the Park, driven by our desire to inform, nurture and transform young children’s understanding and creative experiences.
Let your child find their inner Picasso! This September we are launching new after school children’s art workshops To book your free taster class please email us. Or join us for a FREE pop up taster session!
We’d like to share some fun and exciting ideas for you and your little creative’s to enjoy this summer!!
Never mind the Pollock! Delve into Abstract Expressionism
You will need:
-5 different coloured washable paints
-5 x paper plates/plastic trays (take away ones work well)
-Ball of string
-5 x clothes pegs
-Large A3 (or larger)plain paper/canvas/canvas board
-a pair of scissors
Make sure this is done in the garden or at least on covered surface, it can get messy! Get your child to cut the string into roughly 5 x 20cm lengths and grab one end of each string with a clothes peg. Put a fair amount of paint on your paper plate or tray (one colour each) and then each string & peg set in each colour.
Get your child to make sure, without opening peg and loosing string in the paint) to cover the string in paint.
Now for the FUN!
Using the paint coloured strings, drag and splat them across the page until you have filled the canvas with wiggles and swirls and hey presto, your Pollock inspired master-piece comes into view.. The more physical the artistic movement the better with this one!
Look out for part 2 for more fun, creative ideas for your little Punks to do over the Summer holidays.
