*Tell us about how Stuff n fings began.
I went to a taster pottery workshop with a friend over a year ago. I had never considered pottery would be something I would be into, but fell in love with clay at that taster session. I became a member of that studio. It’s been full steam ever since.
*What’s your earliest memory of making?
It was more a memory of taking something apart because i was fascinated by how things worked. My mum had a radio when i was younger (7/8yrs old), i would hound her to let me take it apart. She wisely said no…the many many times i asked her. Until one day it broke down! She let me have at it. I took it all apart excited at what i’d find, I had the best time…unfortunately I couldn’t put it back together again and make it work…but I think she already knew that would happen! Don’t you just love mums!
*Do you have a studio? What’s it like?
I don’t have a studio, as yet. Although, I like to imagine…big windows with lots of natural light, dark walls to offset the use of colour in my work, stacks of different clays, a multitude of underglazes, music on full blast, people popping in and out…mainly just having the best fun creating!
*What’s on your to do list?
Answer these questions!I went to an amazing master class this weekend, so i’m excited to start implementing what I learnt, into my own pieces.Prep for workshop i’m holding in a couple of days.
*Best thing about your classes?
Peoples surprised reaction to how relaxing/therapeutic, intense, fun and consuming the workshop was.
*Pastels or fluorescent?
Fluorescent, preferably brights…colour makes the world go round in the most delightful way!
*Pattern or plain?
Depends on the situation. I’m a libran – after weighing things up, i can’t decide on one or the other!
*The place you make where no making should be done…
I considered taking some clay with me on a loooong train journey i had the other day. But it was too heavy with all the other luggage. Maybe next time though!
*What do you think about while you are hand-building/throwing?
Nothing in particular other than what i’m working on, i tend to find that it makes me quite present, i get into a zone – my happy place. It also helps to have music on full blast.
*Did you daydream today? Tell us more…
